Dating to the late Victorian era, this stunning chain is of Swiss origin, made by the watchmaker Vulcain, a Swiss luxury watchmaker founded in 1858 in La Chaux-de-Fond in the canton of Neuchâtel and later rebranded as Vulcain in 1894.
At 22.5 inches long, this chain boasts a wonderful charm holder featuring a concealed dog clip clasp hidden behind the enamelled fleur de lis, allowing you to easily add your lightweight charms and fobs. Please be aware that the tongue of the dog clip does move less than 1mm to one side when opening/closing due to its age. These enamelled Vulcain chains were originally sold with heavy pocket watches, so this beauty will have seen a lot of wear in its time and in order to preserve the condition, we advise only wearing your lightweight small fobs and charms with it. However, the necklace looks beautiful when worn alone as the fleur de lis accent finishes the necklace wonderfully.
While a few enamel links may have small sections where the enamel has worn/faded, the underlying 18-carat gold links remain in fabulous condition. We've replaced the bolt ring clasp with a contemporary 18-carat gold version for added durability.
