LUCILLE LONDON logo

A beautifully dramatic antique diamond crescent, designed with a sweeping celestial silhouette and adorned with radiating starburst rays. Set throughout with bright old-cut diamonds, this piece captures the romantic symbolism and craftsmanship that made crescent jewellery one of the most sought-after motifs of the late Victorian and Edwardian eras.

The crescent itself is set with approximately 2.05–2.20 carats of old cut diamonds, arranged within alternating starburst rays and rounded diamond-set sections that create exceptional depth, texture and light play. The graduating rays lend the piece a wonderfully sculptural quality, evoking a glowing lunar crescent surrounded by celestial light.

One of the most appealing features of this piece is its versatility. The original removable brooch fitting remains intact and accompanies the crescent, allowing it to be worn as originally intended. To enhance wearability for modern collectors, a bespoke removable pendant fitting and substantial teardrop-shaped bail have been newly handcrafted in 18ct gold. The conversion has been carefully designed to respect the character and historical integrity of the piece whilst allowing it to transition effortlessly between brooch and pendant.

The diamonds are bright, lively and attractively matched, displaying the soft sparkle and charm associated with antique hand-cut stones. As expected of a piece of this age, some stones display minor nibbles to the girdles and one or two of the smaller stones show tiny nibbles to the crown facets, visible only under close magnified inspection.

The crescent is crafted in the traditional manner often seen in high-quality Victorian diamond jewels, with silver to the diamond-set front and gold to the reverse. This construction was widely used throughout the nineteenth century, allowing diamonds to appear brighter while maintaining structural strength.

A striking and highly wearable celestial jewel that bridges antique craftsmanship and modern versatility.
